Belize continues to
make a mark on the Real Estate market. With a continued increase in the number
of international flights, we will surely see a sustained interest in buying Belize
Real Estate. In the last 2 years alone, Belize has welcomed a few of the top
airline names in the world to have permanent residence at its International
Airport with daily direct flights to destinations like:
- Toronto via West Jet, with seasonal flights to Denver and Colorado
- Houston, Denver, Ft. Lauderdale via Southwest Airlines
- United Kingdom via American Airlines
- Panama via Copa Airlines
- Chetumal, Merida and Cancun via local airline Tropic Air
With the dawn of
additional international flights, came an increase in mandatory visitor
departure taxes. This brings Belize in line with the world market and the
increase will continue to contribute to improved infrastructure at Belize points
of exit; fortunately, most international airline carries include this fee in
the cost of your ticket. Remember, once the fee is not included in the cost of
your ticket, this fee can only be paid with US cash only.
Though visitor
visas are still not required for US Citizens and any Canadian Citizens traveling
to Belize for a period of thirty (30) days or less, be sure to check the
validity of your passport. Your passport must be valid for a period of ninety
(90) days following your departure to Belize. Make sure your passport has at
least two (2) free pages. Finally, be sure to check that entry visas are not
required for any connections as a part of your visit to Belize.
